MT KENYA – SIRIMON GATE – 4 DAYS TREK + 2 NIGHTS’ HOTEL STAY
Day 1: pick up at the Mall to Sirimon Gate where you will meet the other team and also have hot lunch.
After check in will start a 9kms hike from an altitude of 2650m to 3300m which is normally 3hrs.
On the way there will be magical sceneries of the Sirimon Gorge, tropical and natural Mt.kenya forest and the Giant bamboos!
It’s an easy day that ends at Old moses camp for hot soup and dinner (overnight)
Day 2: After an early breakfast, we commence a 7-8hours trek to Shipton’s camp (4,200 meters). Today’s trek is long and interesting but also a good test on individual fitness. You’ll ascent close to 900 meters going up the surreal Mackinder Valley with its strange vegetation of giant lobelia and groundsel, unique to equatorial African mountains.
Here we stay at Shipton’s Hut (4,200 meters), just below the glaciers and jagged peaks of bare rock that surround the main summits.
Day 3: Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Shipton Camp, 2hrs, for breakfast and further 4hrsto Oldmoses (have hot lunch at likii River)
Spend the night at Oldmoses as well as a good bye to the team
Day 4: Late breakfast Then leave Oldmoses down to Sirimon gate, on the way down will do a Forest Walk rather than on the Pathway down. It’s an educative forest Walk.
Once we are at Sirimon gate, connect to the next destination. End of trip!
